On a personal note, I'm slowly recovering from a long bout of depression/writer's block (no pun intended) and am still planning to do some changeups to this wiki. Hopefully this summer will be a productive one.Read more >
Hey all. Been a minute. This will be a quick post describing what's currently going on around the wiki and with me personally, your admin.
First off, this wiki hasn't seen a lot of activity for the past year or so. That's mainly due to a lack of new pages from existing users and a "visit and leave" culture from new users. Also contributing is the major issue of a lack of community interaction, which I as the admin must take responsibility for. I was focused focused on publishing my book, Knight of the Moon, and didn't have the time or energy to manage the wiki.
On that note, I'm currently working on a new series, a pretty big one, so I'm once again very distracted and unable to spend time on the wiki. I want you all to know, however, that I …Read more >

It's been a while. I'm looking forwards to see some old and new faces around here. I'll get straight to reading. Not sure if I'll be posting anything anytime soon. I didn't write for over a year and I don't have it in me to return to an abandoned project. I've started on something new, but I don't think I'll be posting it until I have at least an idea of where I'm going with it.
I've enjoyed making my video series and reading A Song og Ice and Fire, but it's good to be home.Read more >

It has been some time, hasn't it. I really thought I'd get back to the wiki during the holidays. The reason I didn't had nothing to do with lack of time, just my attention being elsewhere.
Recently, all my creative energy have gone into a different project. I'm making an educational video series called "fysikk med Eivind" regarding physics for high school in Norway, and I've gotten positive feedback in addition to about 3000 views on youtube, which I think is pretty good considering the size of the demographic Norwegian high school students who take physics. I don't see myself going back to writing fiction until I've finished the videos for the course Physics 1, and I'm probably more likely to move on to Physics 2 afterwards. I might even e…Read more >

So, I haven't been writing anything or reading anything here for a while. It stopped due to me being behind on me having 8 weeks of practice being a teacher, while at the same time trying to work in studying for the papers and exams I have towards the end of the semester. I still have six weeks left of that, so don't expect me to be around for a while.Read more >

Hey guys, long time no see. Not really sure how this works, never used this site before but basically i just thought I'd drop y'all a link to my site, written a few more poems since i last spoke to you all back on gamespot. Glad you found a way to carry on sharing and keeping in contact. As always feedback is more than welcome.
P.s, may be worth mentioning one of those poems i've written since last time is actually my personal favourite, it's called "My Lack Of Confidence" although obviously i would still recommend giving the others a read. Cya for now!Read more >
I eventually decided what I needed to do to break the writer's block was to write something fresh. To me it is a new and frightening move to write the original version of a story in English and start releasing chapters before it is finished. As I hate the idea of potentially stopping in the middle of a story and failing to ever complete it I have usually finished my stories in Norwegian and then translated them to post them here. This has also helped me discover a problem I have with partway through the story forgetting and contradicting things I have established early on.
So yeah, I'm a bit nervous about this. Still, it hopefully means I'll be motivated to write for no other reason then to not look like a slacker.
Oh, and I have no definite…Read more >
This has been mentioned before, so I'll make this blog quick. I'm in the process of developing a template that will be used to connect this wiki with other writing wikis around the Wikia network. This is some annoying, brain-busting code, so it will take a while. Once complete, other wikis (and offsite blogs) will be able to sign up to our network at a single location, and become featured anywhere on wikia that someone places the template. It's the same thing the Shonen Jump wikis do (scroll to the page bottom to see the templates).
But there's one more thing I realized the other day that needs to be done. We need a form for people to submit their stories to the site. Right now, you'd have to create a new article and you are free to enter w…Read more >
I am so going to ninja the last blog post of the month. As you all may know, I've been following a very strict weekly posting schedule for both 139: In Evening and Years to the End of the World. While I was trying to finish up the latest chapter for In Evening last night, I laid down on my bed for a second of rest and promptly fell asleep. Looks like my body is finally catching up with my mental fatigue.
The good thing about having a schedule is that it allowed me to keep writing faithfully, but at the same time, the moment I stop, I lose a lot of momentum in my writing. Like right now, In Evening's chapter 23 is still nowhere near completion since I fell asleep last night, and my dateline is today. I've also not done my novella for the Su…Read more >
I had hoped to start being productive once summer came along, but as it stands I'm having difficulties. I've finished two more timelines of A River of Godsblood and would like to finish the other two in that branch before I translate, but I'm just not feeling it. I also think the ending to the timelines I did write were rather weak and I should go back and edit them.
I have considered taking a break from ARoGB and maybe start on a Super Police reboot, but I feel like I should make a plan this time so I have a better idea where I'm going, and somehow whenever the idea of planning comes into my head I cringe and watch something on youTube instead.
Then again, I also have plenty of ideas for new projects I would like to write at some point, but…Read more >
Hey you there. Yeah, you. The hunched over one with cereal residue on your fingers. Having trouble finding a story on this wiki? Can't blame you; this place is expanding. The navbar up there just isn't as useful as it used to be.
This oughta make things easier for you. On the front page, right above the blog listing, click on the "Directory" tab (next to the "Blog" tab). You'll find a gallery of book covers with a button underneath to add your own cover. Go ahead and click that button, add any story you want, and include a link to the story in the "link" field.

So JP and Blackhill are coming together to do this Summer Writing Project thing. It's pretty interesting, in case you guys haven't read about it. I'm kind of on the fence about entering though. It's not that I have no interest in it, I'm in fact, really, really excited about it, but am not sure if I can make the deadline while focusing on my 139 stories and their schedule. I mean, it's a novella, so it's not really that long, but still, to churn out an estimated 10,000 extra words in two months is kind of a stretch for me, given my average being a little over 10,000 a month with my current stories.
Also, I don't really have any stories to tell at the moment within that length. I have a few fictional worlds of my own that I can readily tap …Read more >
Sorry for disappearing without notice. School, Pokemon Modding and Mario Goif: World Tour conspired to take over my life and only now did I barely manage to claw myself away. It is scary how easy it is to just not come back once some days passed without me posting. Granted, I had a legitimate reason for those first days since there was no internet at the place where I spent my Easter holiday, but after that I've just ignored the wiki, despite it being always present in an internet tab.
I wish I could say I'd at least been writing in the meantime, but all I've written is school-related or mod-related. I think I'll not try to break the writer's block until my final exam in early June, though.

(or, The Author Complains About a System That Kicked His Ass and Continues To Do So)
If you'll excuse the indulgence, I'd like to take a moment to discuss what I've been doing behind the scenes these last few months. In addition to my work on Beneath an Azure Sky and the recently concluded Nerd World rewrite, I've also been attempting to get something else published. This is what I've learned about that process.
I wrote my first book in 2008 and, after half a year of rewriting and polishing, I started shopping it around. It didn't go so well. I can distinctly remember sending off my first batch of queries and receiving a rejection to the first one before I sent off the last one. I spent six months writing queries and was rejected over seventy ti…Read more >
First I'd like to fire off a few friendly reminders that WaZelda failed to get his "Addicted" badge last month. This badge is for editing/commenting on the wiki for 100 days in a row. He already had the Devoted badge (edit/comment for 60 days) but he just didn't know when to quit. Instead he tried hard to maintain his high, like all addicts do, but in the end he crashed, like all addicts do, and also failed, like only he can.

I had not expected such a large reaction from my previous post here. It's really heartwarming cause it just proves again how tight knit the writing comittee is. It got retweeted by @JukePopSerials, @AthenaSerial and @Dean_Moses, and got liked by a bunch of people. I'm really, really damn touched.
So, as for appreciation, I've went ahead and burnt some night oil to add in extra zest for the next chapter of 139: In Evening, hitting an extra 600 words to my usual length. It will also be the last chapter for the first arc, and will result in a major *spoilers*. Oh, I can't say it yet? Fine, I'll just wait for it to come up tonight.

Second, an update. I'm currently working my butt off on Fiverr. This leaves me with less time than ever before, especially when you add my work on Metal Shadow. I'll be like a ghost around here from now until the forseeable future.

Here's the sad thing about being an author. It's generally a very introverted lifestyle. The world behind out computer screens and pen and paper is our own. We don't get to openly share its entirety, even in our books. I'm sure there are corners of Middle Earth that Tolkien did not tell us, witch and wizards of unique standing that Rowling don't talk of. But we need the exposure for our works to be recognize. Labouring …Read more >

Work on the latest serial continues, with the first chapter recently completed. I'm not yet sure what I'm going to do with it - submit it to JPS, keep it exclusive to my own site, or maybe just sit on it for a while. In the meantime, I'm putting together a few chapters while collecting feedback. Below is the first chapter - not sure where exactly I should put this, so let me know if there's a better location. I went ahead and set up a small page for the story to collect comments.
I wish I had an explanation for this. I wish I understood it myself.

So today feels like a good day to discuss my upcoming project, Beneath an Azure Sky. I've worked out most of the fine details, but there are still some things that give me pause. This story is shaping up to be very different than The Fabulist, and while that is a good thing it also means I'm getting into uncharted territory.
To the point - I'm mulling over a particular plot device. This is in particular directed towards anyone who's written paranormal fiction, because that's what it concerns.
Most of my novels contain some supernatural elements, but they're usually subtle things that are well-established literary tropes such as characters having prophetic dreams or visions. In Beneath an Azure Sky, they're quite a bit more overt. One of the big…Read more >
I'm not dead!
Okay, so I'm doing an update on my current situation and giving my pathetic excuse as to why I have not been on the Wiki more.
I've been working on a new serial for JukePop that will be out in two weeks. It'll be posted in tandem with In Evening on alternate Fridays so I've got my serial workload on the max. I'm also working on the prologue for my novel in progress, and am quite happy with this 8th rewrite (hah...8th...yeah...) so I've maxed out my 3 stories at one go quota.
The last thing I'm working on is getting back into the film industries. Some of you may know that in my country, Singapore, there's a mandatory 2 years military conscription (which I hate with a passion) and I'm currently in my last 6 months of it. So, …

Man, I'm so torn right now. On one hand, I'm knee-deep into the prologue of GEV, and it's starting to find a rhythm. Oh, alright, I just thought it was epic, don't mind me, do what you want." Damn you Foolz3h and other people I won't name.
Dammit, if you loved it so much, where's your name on the analytics chart. Hm. Point to it.
I've sort of given in already. So I've just picked up a bit of disappointing news. Nerd World ended the month of February with 470 votes on JukePop Serials, a solid performance that put me in 3rd for the month. Unfortunately, it looks like I've failed to make the monthly list entirely.
I've made an inquiry as to why this is, but I think I understand already. It's due to a quirk in how the system records the last date a serial was updated. Recently, JPS changed their chapter submission system, allowing users to submit multiple chapters at once. This is tremendously useful for me, as I like to write ahead and keep several chapters queued up so I don't fall behind. It was especially convenient for Nerd World, which had been entirely written in advance. Since I didn't want to…Read more >

I've been looking to get more closely involved in the community, and now seems like as good a time as any.
So I've fiddled around with literature for most of my life, but I really got serious about it in 2012 when I began what would eventually become the Illinois Mythos. This is a serious of interconnected, mixed-genre novels and short stories all revolving around a handful of significant characters and locations. Recently, I wrapped up the fifth novel, The Dragon's Heir, and I'm currently planning the sixth - and that's a big part of the reason why I'm here.
For the sake of not boring you to death, I'll spare the whole exegesis on the novels and lay out the basics. All of the Illinois stories can be divided broadly into two groups: The Pure…Read more >

Let's face it, we all do it. Procrastination I mean, not the other thing you are thinking about *wink wink*. At least three of my In Evening chapters were done the night before my self imposed publishing date.
So I've actually finished the next chapter for In Evening last Friday. I could have posted it last week, but I'm procrastinating the posting of my already complete chapter. I don't know if that means I'm lazy or hardworking, or maybe dedicated to the self imposed dates, though thinking back, I have not followed a lot of them in the past years. I needed somewhere to rage a bit, so here we go.
Nintendo killed my save files.
I guess some detail is needed. Nintendo game purchased in the e-shop is stored at an SD card, but tied to the specific 3DS you downloaded it on. Somehow, my oldest SD card has stopped recognizing the 3DS, so I can't access the games even though they are on the card and I have the correct 3DS that should be able to play them. A system update must have messed it up or something.
So now my only option is to redownload the games on a different SD card. The game files are forever lost.

James Joyce: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.
Sigh, not even James Joyce can consistently pull of a simile. That aside, the opening is one of the most vivid sensory experiences one can have in literature, and as the intellect develops to stifle just such experiences, emotion and cognition step in to share the burden so that knowledge does not completely suffocate the prose or truth (as Aldous Huxley would say).
