I've been gone from the wiki for a while. Not a lot have popped up in the meantime, and I don't know if it got there recently or not. Is the wiki dead? I'm realizing that even if it isn't, it hasn't turned out to be quite like the old Writer's Lounge. It's not so much a lot of people writing and reading each other's stuff. The people reading is way fewer than the people posting their works, and some of them don't check back for comments either.
I guess I'm asking whether there is any reason to stick around here, or if I should just move on.
Good to hear from you man. Yeah, this thing's pretty dead and dry. And I've been trying to find another writing group online, but the communities just aren't the same, the aesthetic of casual reading and critique isn't there. It's all business. What I'm gonna start doing is post my stories on my blog and try to encourage other people to do the same, perhaps cross-promoting their blogs and inspiring a small community. Blogs get a lot more traffic, so...
I dunno. What's up with you? Still grinding on the page? :D
In a few days I'm finishing my education. Then I have to try to find a job, which as it turns out does not look that easy. That's the problem with jobs where experience is so vital. Landing your first job is difficult.
Also, about an hour and a half ago, I came up with a way to not just revive this wiki but make it super popular. Because an hour and a half is the ideal amount of time needed to decide that a plan is foolproof.
Basically, let's catalogue web serials. I mean, that's what we're doing, but I mean, instead of waiting for authors to post their own stories, let's post it for them, leaving a full synopsis of their stories on this wiki. This'll drive traffic to the authors' sites (good for them) while making us the number one place on the web for reading spoilers from their web serials (good for us). There is currently no website that does this on the entire Internet, so we'll hold a monopoly on that kind of traffic, getting all sorts of new users whom we can then toy with in the palm of our hand.
I am a genius, this shall be known.
Also, I'm going to retake my #1 spot on the leaderboard with this strategy, schoolboy. :3
Search literally everywhere. Check under your bed. Check the fire escape. I want every serial and their mother catalogued on this site. They turn up in a google search, we'll top 'em. They get an award, we'll be there with the trophy and a handkerchief.
Been fleshing that out over the past few days. What I'm going to do is create a few templates for navigating, and we'll use pages like StoryName/Characters, StoryName/Setting, etc. to add information about the story, with the basic StoryName page having the synopsis. I'll reveal my full plan when it's ready, for now you can make the pages the same as before.
